REVIEW WEDNESDAY – Grab’s Burger Bar
2324 18th Street, Kenosha
My family are burger lovers. So when we heard there was a burger joint opening up close to home (we’re also fans of Sobelman’s and A.J. Bomber’s in Milwaukee), we were excited.
Grab’s atmosphere was kind of college sports bar-like, but I would feel comfortable taking children there – you wouldn’t feel like you were bringing them to a bar.
I ordered the Keno burger ($9.99) which was topped with Rustic Road Brewery Ale braised onions, cheddar and thick cut bacon. The burger came with thin, hand-cut fries. To drink, I stepped out of my comfort zone a bit and ordered a maple bacon shake ($4.24).
The burger was outstanding. It was juicy and flavorful and the toppings were abundant. The fries were hot, crispy and a bit garlicky (which I loved). The shake was a bit of a surprise for me – I had heard good things about it, but I was skeptical. Let’s just say that I did the right thing when I ordered that shake. The maple flavor was so delicious. Not overpowering and not too sweet – just spot on. And there were tiny pieces of crispy bacon floating throughout creating this sweet/salty flavor that was incredible.
My only complaint about Grab’s would be the ordering process. There was a table of 5 ahead of us, and it took about 12-15 minutes to place our order. I think Grab’s would benefit if the customer was able to sit down and write down their orders on a slip of paper at the table (check off list/circling what you’d like/highlighting). That way one person could go up to place the entire order at the register and would cut down on the “standing in line” time.
As long as Grab’s Burger Bar continues to make burgers this awesome, we will continue to be customers (we’ve already been back 2 additional times).
